The Most Effective Climate Actions aren't Instagrammable.

Instagram is full of beautiful people standing in beautiful places with keep-it cups and people with colour and size matched pantries with no plastic but it is a sad fact that the most effective climate actions aren't Instagrammable.

This is how I look:

Using Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to share articles on climate change
Changing banks to one that doesn't invest in fossil fuels
Changing superannuation funds to one that doesn't invest in fossil fuels
Writing an email to my elected representative about the urgent need for climate action
Writing a letter to the editor about climate change
Writing a blog post on climate action
Making an image for my daily climate action series
Reading about climate change
Making a public comment on a Council Plan
Chatting on social media about climate change
Reading about political party policies on climate change
Signing a petition on climate change
Emailing professional organisations/universities/churches asking them to divest from fossil fuels
Investigating water and energy saving tips
Switching to a renewable energy provider
Reading my state or city climate change policy
Commenting on my state or city climate change policy
Reading about Climate Grief
Writing a poem or novel about climate change
Learning how to fix something rather than throw it out
Researching vegetarian or vegan recipes
Finding a bike route to work
Asking my local newspaper to connect climate change to recent weather events
Learning about the natural and indigenous history of my area.

This is how I look

Calling my elected representative about the need for climate action
Chatting to friends and family about climate change

This is how I look

Reading about climate change
Reading about sustainable futures
Holidaying at home instead of overseas.

This is how I look

Chatting to friends and family about climate change

and just occasionally I do something Instagramable and effective
